The Muslim Migraine gets a raise… for piling on debt!

Council Action Needed: Motion to renew the Town Manager’s Contract for a two year period effective August 6, 2012 through August 5, 2014 including restoration of his pay to the January 1, 2009 rate prior to his10% economic recession wage reduction.

What a sweetheart deal this is for his Holiness, Usama Bin Abujbarah, a/k/a/ the “Muslim Migraine” (because he’s nothing but a headache).  A small town of 3,500 voters treating the Town Manager as if he is the King of Cave Creek.  Do you get these kinds of benefits in your job? You might, if you are a physician or large business owner but this is a public “servant” Take a look…this is over the top!

The employment agreement of August 5, 2010 for two years set a base salary or $112,500.  The Council says it will renew his contract and restore a 10% cut for the economic recession.  That puts his salary back at $125,000 for the new term from 2012 to 2014. 

We think that’s way out of line for this size town.  Our editors have lived in other cities of much larger size (12,000+) where there were full time fire, police and paramedics with no Town Manager and an elected Mayor that was paid $8,000 per year…..after posting a surety bond of his own for $10,000.

Why is Cave Creek paying such a huge salary for a Town Manager?   Does he even remotely deserve all of his perks?  And just what are the perks?  Let’s take a look.

Salary set at $125,000/ year.

Teaching, writing and consulting work w/o prior approval

Town paid vehicle for exclusive use 24/7 – all costs for operation paid by the Town.

Vacation in line with all other employees AND receives an additional 12 days of personal leave to be use however he desires.

Benefit plans..as they now exist…whatever that is.

Health insurance paid in full by the Town.

Paid Life insurance in the amount of $100,000.

Paid professional development expenses…including travel, lodging, meals, etc for annual conferences.

No reduction in Salary during the term of employment.

Termination:  5 months pay in lump sum plus payment for accrued vacation and pay for 1/3 accrued sick leave not used.

Wouldn’t the ordinary working citizen of Cave Creek just love a deal like this for him or herself?  Creekers, did you even remotely suspect you give these kind of over the top benefits to the Town King….er…Manager?  We doubt it. .

This is a sweet lucrative package for a Town Manager that managed to dig the citizens into a hole of $60 Million in debt with no credible way to pay for it except a fantasy budget out to 2030 that they hope the public will swallow.

And all of this is orchestrated by the Sorchych Sycophants.  The Sonoran News will keep praising the Muslim Migraine for his malfeasance so he will get retained contract after contract.

It’s working.  And the citizens of Cave Creek seem to be asleep while they are paying outsized benefits for a small town that is far out of balance with other such Towns across the United States.

Remember this at election time.  It’s time to end this pillaging of the Town Treasury by sweeping the Council clean and electing a new Mayor and Council that will put a stop to this travesty.

    Editors…I was disgusted to read about the extreme salary and perks given by this small town to the CC Town Manager. I checked with a friend who was a long time Mayor in a Town of 5,000+ back in the Midwest. I asked him if he rec’d pay and other benefits….his answer is below. You did your homework on the example you used. As far as I’m concerned….the pay and perks are far too generous.

    And I noted that their city services are far more comprehensive than Cave Creek and the pay for Supt. of City Services is less than half of the King of Cave Creek. Phil is certainly right that common sense is sorely needed here. Cave Creek is way out of line on pay and benefits for a Town of our size.

    Yes, I was paid ($400) a monthly allowance. Any travel expense, entertainment or meeting expense came from this allowance. No other utility costs were forgiven (garbage,water&sewer).

    Frankly, it was enough for a town of 5000+ and I was not so naive to think it deserved more.

    Common sense seems to be sorely needed.

    We had a supt. of city services $60k, the use of a retired squad car and 3 weeks vacation. We had full-time police force (6 incl. chief), volunteer fire dept. which were paid for each call, water and sewer dept. , rec. dept. and street dept. Hope this helps.
