Jerry,
Thank you for taking the time to write me a note. As always, I appreciate the amount of energy you are putting into the workings of the Town of Cave Creek. I am very disappointed that you feel the town treats various requests differently and couldn’t agree more that “preferential treatment” as you described it is certainly unfair and not right. In fact, since my arrival we have accomplished the following:
1. Created a new policy that mandates that ALL media outlets receive responses to public information requests. This policy increases transparency by making sure that if one media outlet makes a request all of the media outlets are able to receive the same information.
2. Directed staff to research the pricing and distribution of all general distribution for public notices and due to that research, all Town of Cave Creek public notices are now advertised through the Scottsdale Republic. Previously, other publications were used that did not meet the public notice requirements.
I took the time this morning to reach out to our Town Clerk, Carrie Dyrek, who is on personal time traveling back East and unfortunately she did not recall receiving a public information request from you. Additionally, as I scrolled below I read the email communication you sent me from Linda Bentley and Carrie but I was unable to find the request you submitted.
That said, if you would be kind enough to forward the initial request that you sent to Carrie to both Carrie and I, I will personally make sure she is able to get you the information you requested in a timely fashion. I am thrilled to help you and hope that the action items that have already taken place above begin to restore your confidence in the town.
On a personal note, I certainly appreciated your kind words in regards to the Cave Creek-Scottsdale Challenge, the grading on Morningstar, and your other positive feedback. It is always nice to work with someone who is willing to offer both positive affirmation and constructive feedback.
