Definition: Misogyny is the hatred, dislike, or mistrust of women. Misogyny can be manifested in numerous ways, including sexual discrimination and denigration of women.
There seems to be a pattern in Don Sorchych’s “editorials” that causes us to question if Don finds the feminine sex as threatening or distrustful; creating a need to control them. (i.e. bullying them.) It’s a pattern of behavior he’s followed for a number of years.
We’re not the only ones who have noticed his method of personal character assassination. In 2001 the Phoenix New Times published an article that made this observation:
Sorchych has had a remarkable success rate — if not in stopping growth, then in eliminating his enemies. “Ellen the Felon” Sands, as well as almost every councilmember he’s taken out after in six years, is gone from office. So are two mayors, countless town staffers and members of the planning and zoning commission and other boards — many have quit in disgust with the Sonoran News, replaced, by and large, with people Sorchych has celebrated.
Sorchych calls this reprehensible behavior being a community watchdog. He attacks his perceived (illusory or otherwise) enemies in order to intimidate and punish or silence them. It’s his way of attempting to control events and those he desires to dominate. His targets have no way to repudiate his savage attacks. He controls what locals read without fear of rebuttal to his rants.
No one asked him to be the “Community Watchdog” and we increasingly hear from people who think he should leave Cave Creek and take his “watchdog” with him.
You’ll notice the primary targets in this article are women, those who can’t rebut him and those he oppresses. The Phoenix New Times detailed how he viciously attacked and denigrated Lis Weideman for wanting to make a path on her own property that she could negotiate in her wheelchair. What behavior could be worse than attacking a disabled neighbor trapped in a wheelchair?
In true narcissistic fashion, Sorchych writes about his medical conditions, stroke, heart attacks, diabetes, etc. as if anyone would care. He rarely shows empathy for anyone else but he keeps his poison pen filled with venomous ink to savage anyone that displeases him. He uses his front page like an editorial page that is filled with innuendo and half truths that places his target in a false light.
And he seems to have a fixation about encouraging the Town and his sycophants to prosecute – ala showing Cave Creek School Superintendent Debbie Burdick and Arizona State Senator Nancy Barto in prison garb. No doubt you’ve seen his many “polls” asking whether his target of the week should be prosecuted.
Perhaps Sorchych should be prosecuted and end his days in prison garb. Wouldn’t that be poetic justice!
What Sorchych does is worse than defamation. We think it’s downright criminal.
