What Creekers Want

A Sonoran Truth Editorial, February 23, 2015.

Kudos To Kim Brennan:

Kim offered Big Earls as a venue open to the public if anyone cares to organize a public debate, she’ll act as host.

Kim REALLY doesn’t care about all the arguing with each other (or about each other). She is hoping to hear the candidates speak.  She’d like to know WHY they are running in a recall election. WHAT they hope to accomplish and IF they support initiatives that are important to her as a citizen.
That’s it. That’s Kim’s agenda. We think Kim’s agenda is 99.99% of Creekers’ agendas.

Kim addresses the candidates in an email today:

“To the seated council: I pretty much know what you have accomplished, hope to accomplish and what your values are regarding Cave Creek. I’ve had the opportunity many times to hear you state your points and perspectives.  I heard you in the last election…and I’ve heard you again in open forums recently.

To the Challengers:  I don’t know much about you at all. I have no idea why you want to be elected to serve Cave Creek. NOT showing up, NOT organizing your own PUBLIC forum, NOT willing to engage publicly just because a forum was organized by someone else…
Well, it’s giving the appearance (to me)  that you are not serious. That you don’t care much about connecting with constituents.  That maybe you don’t have articulate reasons for running in the first place. ?  What the hell?  I haven’t even heard back from Susan or Dick at all. Not even a quick email reply.

I’m frustrated. I feel like instead of wanting to serving your town or the people who would elect you, you’d rather play some kind of taunting-game with each other where the objective is to tease and be more witty/smart than the other guy.  I know I’m only one vote. I’m just one resident. But elections are a big deal to me.  In such a small community and especially with a new Town Manager, the council can and does determine the tone and direction of our town. Decisions made today can and will affect business, property values, community image and more.  The job is serious. ELECTIONS ARE A BIG DEAL.

I’d appreciate a chance to hear you all speak in public or in private.
I can make myself available with little notice.
Thanks,
Kim B>”

Mike Durkin also chimed in:

“I would gladly attend any forum anyone would like to put together.
The facts attest to the positive performance of the sitting council members and I’m willing to argue that position in any forum.

If the challengers truly have a solid case for a recall, they should be willing to make that case in an open forum and succeed in changing minds!

Mike”
