A Sober Synopsis of the Sorchych Recall

A Sonoran Truth Editorial, January 22, 2015.

Laws governing recall in Arizona are defined in Article 8 of the Arizona Constitution. The authority to conduct a recall election in Arizona applies to “Every public officer in the state of Arizona, holding an elective office, either by election or appointment.” While editors of the Sonoran Truth have previously stated a valid recall  requires cause—such as moral turpitude or criminal wrong doing, in Arizona, a recall can be filed against any public officer on any grounds.

Typically, the voting public will need a truthful and logical reason to recall a lawfully elected official, but there is nothing to stop the Sorchych Slate from swaying voters by prejudice or emotion. Most of the Sorchych Slate animosity is directed at Adam Trenk. Spitzer, Durkin, and Monachino are being recalled because they voted to oust Usama bin Abujbarah.

The Sorchych Slate strategy is simple: Tell the Big Lie (in German: Große Lüge). Adolf Hitler coined the expression in Mein Kampf, about the use of a lie so “colossal” that no one would believe that someone “could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously.”

For instance, Steve La Mar, a/k/a Lame Mare claims Trenk is being investigated by MCAO. Trenk is being investigated because Linda Bentley filed a complaint just like she did with the State Bar of Arizona. Linda’s complaint is frivolous. It is without merit but it sets up the Big Lie, so that Steve “Lame Mare” and his side kick, John Hoeppner can argue that Trenk should be recalled because he is under MCAO investigation.

This same tactic is being applied to us. According to Sorchych Sycophant, Bob Williams, we are “the local anonymous Hate Blog operating from Cave Creek.” Williams goes on to quote an email passage, but true to the Sorchych criteria for stupidity, fails to understand the significance of a comic book turned into a movie and used as an analogy for our anonymity. To quote: “You want to know who we are? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnPvbfogeSI.”

Perhaps a careful screening of V for Vendetta would explain the transformation happening in Cave Creek and why Cave Creek needs a change from Chancellor Sorchych.

Trenk calls Sorchych and his flock of followers pigeons. They flap their wings and poop all over the place. This purpose of this post is not to convert pigeons into owls or eagles for that matter. The purpose of this post is explain to Creekers who are on the periphery of politics, what is at stake for the Town. Consider Trenk’s response to John Hoeppner’s accusation of a financial cover up by the Town Council:

“Mr. Hoeppner,

While the pigeon analogy holds truer than ever, by making such ridiculous allegations you have put me in a position where a response is necessary, even if it is lost on you.

You stated “a forensic audit was promised and never delivered by the ‘Trenk Slate.’  This means one of two things:

  1. “No financial misdeeds were discovered indicating that the previous council and town manager did not commit a crime. Thus, lies were told by the “Trenk Slate” to get elected” or
  2. “There was a problem and the newly elected “Trenk Slate” candidates were involved in a cover-up. Neither option is good – A cover-up is really problematic.”

Yes, during the campaign of 2013 I felt, and still feel, a forensic audit is necessary. However, upon taking office it was more pressing to get down to business and put the Town on the right operational track. I will further point out that while you Mr. Hoeppner, and your cohorts at [the] Sonoran Lies like to pretend I am the vindictive one in Town, it was and remains more important to me to serve the public interest than to dish dirt on my political adversaries.

A comprehensive forensic audit would cost the town tens of thousands if not more in fees for professional services. It stands to reason that we should first identify leads and limit the scope of such an analysis where it is most likely to uncover actionable evidence of malfeasance & wrongdoing. We continue to do that.

Your assertion that “no financial misdeeds were discovered” is false. We have identified numerous misdeeds at the hands of the previous manager Osama Abujbarah. Each were overseen by the previous council, including two recall candidates Esser & LaMar.

While we knew of several instances prior to 2013, several more have come to light since our taking office. Among those discovered post swearing in: the former manager was running a tab with the Town’s attorneys that grew to approx. $80,0000.00 outside the scope of their contract and without council/public knowledge; he permitted Town’s employees to use public resources for their own private benefit (i.e. use equipment and labor to make home improvements); he willfully ignored infrastructure maintenance (many examples of this), and he placed an abandonment of a non-vehicular easement on the consent agenda without disclosing that the council action would benefit his property. And there is more…

Most of these instances cost the taxpayer money, thus are at best evidence of financial malfeasance, but more likely willful misconduct. I also have reason to believe that Osama deliberately destroyed public records, which is illegal. Just because the Sonoran Lies tabloid does not write about it, doesn’t mean these things have not been unearthed.

Each of these acts warrant further investigation, which may include a tailored forensic audit. This is especially true in light of the fact that Osama ran the town using SEVEN bank accounts.

Upon taking office over 18 months ago we directed staff to work to consolidate the town’s accounts and have been running the town with TWO accounts without any problem for over a year. This begs the question, if he was not playing “three card monte,” or for that matter seven card monte, with the public’s cash why did the town need so many accounts? Why did the previous council allow this? If the recall is successful we may never know. If this council retains office, stay tuned.

As for your second allegation that there must have been a “problem” and the seated council was “involved in a cover up”, that has to be brushed off as the ramblings of a lunatic. Why would we cover up anything for the benefit of Osama, Don, & Co.? That said, this wild accusation is another great example of the hysteric brand of politics the losers of the last election and their supporters, including you & Sorchych, continue to deploy.

Your email further states that “Certainly the Cave Creek Council has the right and duty to remove any town employee, including the town manager. However, the ‘Trenk Slate’ did not have the right to do it stupidly and drag the Town into a $3-million lawsuit.” The termination of Osama was not done stupidly; particularly considering all of the operational issues we have uncovered and tended to that never would have been addressed had he stayed in power.

Don Sorchych’s editorials foreshadowed the filings of Osama’s suits before he was ever fired, and they are merely a tool to justify the recall which was also promised before Osama was fired. Yes, the defense costs, I chalk it up to another harm Osama has brought on this community. Osama [a/k/a Usama] dragged the town into that lawsuit, and in the end the Town’s defense will prevail.

You exclaim that “The ‘Trenk Slate’ was more concerned about payback [when it fired Osama] rather than what the Town will eventually be paying out.” Perhaps this is more foreshadowing. I have great concern that if even one member of my “Slate” loses there seat, the new council would look to settle Osama’s baseless claims and fleece the public of millions of dollars at the behest of those supporting the recall. That would be quite a heist. Will you get a piece of the action should that come to pass? In any case, it is clear that Osama is the one motivated by payback and payouts. He is the one circulating recall petitions, suing the town, and working with Don to pull recall candidates puppet strings.”

Editor’s Comments: Contributors to campaigns are required to be listed for the amount of money they give to candidates. Every week Sorchcyh gives the equivalent of $10,000 of free space to his candidates and none of it is reported as a campaign contribution. It’s not a level playing field which is why the SonoranTruth.com was conceived. The Sonoran Truth is now deemed a “Hate Blog” by Sorchych Psychos.

They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth.” Plato
